Inexpensive Family Camping Trip

My friend Nikki told me about a kids campfire program at Disney Fort Wilderness Lodge, so I thought I would check it out.

If you live in Florida, or are wanting to come visit, think about an inexpensive family camping trip at Disney Fort Wilderness Lodge. Spread over 700 Acres and 799 Campsites, this is a nice family getaway with lots of free activities. Not many people think about getting out in mother nature anymore.

You can bring a camper or pop up a tent. Rates start as low as $43.00 a night. You can even think about sharing the site with another family and split the cost.

They have horse back riding, a beach, pool, hiking, fishing, sports activities, electric water pageant nightly, and what my friend Nikki had mentioned, a Chip 'n Dale campfire sing a long, with roasting marshmallows, and movie afterward. You can of course visit the parks, they have free shuttles.

This is a nice resort getaway, but a lot less expensive than a Disney hotel, that the kids will love! Thanks Nikki for sharing this great local family activity!

  1. Disney might have more activities, but for a true camping experience, look to one of the state parks and reserve a campsite at www.reserveamerica.com. Plan ahead, though, because campsites fill up quick!

  2. Island camping at Mosquito Lagoon is always fun. You can either bring your own flats boat or rent a canoe. You have to make a reservation and obtain a permit, but you have a whole island to yourself. We've done it a couple times and it's a blast. http://www.nps.gov/cana/planyourvisit/upload/camping-02.pdf
