Local Christmas Tree Farms

We knew that we wanted to get a real tree this year but was a little torn between using a tree that you can recycle, that comes in a pot, or going to a real tree farm where you pick it out and cut it yourself.

I found this great site that has farms listed for every state and is then broken down by county.

It is a great idea to make a family day of the adventure, the kids not only get to pick out a tree, but most places have hay or sleigh rides, hot chocolate, bonfires for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, you pick produce, and of course... Santa Claus is usually their to meet, greet, and take pictures.

Both have pros and cons...If you buy one that comes in a pot the great part is you can plant it after Christmas and recycle it. The con is that it can only live indoors for approximately 1 week.

We liked the idea of picking one out at a tree farm and found that because it is cut fresh right then and not sitting at a lot where you usually get them already cut, It tends to last twice as long and the smell is more fragrant.

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving with their families! I would love to hear from you! Enjoy this time of year and decorate a fragrant fresh Christmas tree!~
