Crispy Baked Red Potato Fries

Ingredients:
8-10 Red Potatoes
1/4 Cup olive oil
2 tsp of Kosher Salt, seasoned salt, or regular salt
1 tsp of Black pepper *You can use 1/8 tsp of Cayenne pepper for a little kick
1 tsp of Basil
1 tsp of Garlic Powder

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Slice Potatoes into thin wedges
  • Arrange single layer on non stick baking sheet or a cooking stone
  • Pat dry any liquid with paper towel
  • Put all of the oil and seasonings evenly over all the potatoes
  • Take your hands and rub them all together in the oil, and seasonings, on both sides
  • Then arrange back into single layer
  • Bake at 375° for approximately 30 minutes then take spatula and flip
  • Then continue baking another 30 minutes until brown and crispy.
  • If they are not brown you can turn on broil for a few minutes until browned
*If you have fresh Rosemary put a couple stems in while baking for the flavor or chop it and put it all over them. Great Flavor!

These are SO yummy! You can mix up the seasonings to whatever you like. Play around with different flavors. They are great with a little Parmesan Cheese! Also, you can slice them and make potato chips instead of fries. This is a healthier alternative to store bought french fries that your family will love! I made these for my baby as she was starting to chew she loves them. I would just omit the salt and pepper. Just use herbs.

Watch for red potato sales. I just got this week 10 lbs for $4.95. Now that is a lot of dinners :)

  1. We will start making these weekly!! Delicious!! Make the full 8-10 potatoes, even if it seems like too much.

  2. An hour in my oven burned them to a crisp. Check after 30 minutes, or lower temperature.

  3. make "do", not make "due" (see your masthead)- yikes, proofread before posting for the world to see

    1. Way to go! Make someone feel completely stupid, but don't forget to comment about the awesome red potato recipe. I'll have to remember that for future use myself.

    3. Commenting on a poster's spelling while simultaneously omitting puncuation and cspital letters is super busch league.

    4. "...anyway." Yikes! Do not forget proper punctuation. You really should proofread before posting for the world to see :)

  4. Burned to a crisp in my oven as well at this temp and time. Probably need to flip them at 10 or 15 minutes and only cook for about 30 minutes total.

    1. I'm about to try these. Thanks for the time and temp trick. I'm gonna try it your way.

  5. Everyone loved these, but as others half of them were completely burned to a crisp. Def suggest a lower temp or only half the time cooking. The seasoning is delicious though!!

  6. Thanks for the recipe!

For anyone who makes this recipe, I must reiterate that it would be best to bake these for 20 - 30 minutes total. I tried to bake these for about 40 minutes total and had to sort out a lot of burnt ones.

  7. Yeah, at 25 min at 450 degrees most of ours were burnt. Oh well, have to check 'em more often next time.

  8. The author is probably at a different altitude and didn't think to mention adjusting temps for others who are not. But would have slipped my mind too.

  9. Morgan, I agree with the comment above re: "Make do" -- if it was just a typo in a recipe it's not that big a deal, but this is in your masthead, it's on every single page, and it just doesn't mean what you intended to say. I don't know if you read comments, but I would fix the masthead. Now I'm going to try your potatoes at 350-375 based on other readers' experience.

  10. The potatoes turned out really well for me at 375 degrees for about 25-30 minutes. Everyone loved them, thanks for sharing!

And by the way... I hate to see rude armchair, self-professed grammarians trash someone who is well-meaning. Better to be well-meaning than mean... especially when you use poor grammar and punctuation to make your point! Ironic!

  11. All ovens are different, convection ovens won't always cycle heat like they are supposed to and older ovens get hot spots. Just don't leave them unattended. Check on them every 10-15 min @ 375F. I baked mine for 45 min at 375F, flipping them every 15. Then I broiled them for 5 until they crisped up a bit. The best fries I've had! Excellent recipe! I'm never buying store bought fries again!

  12. This design is spectacular! You most certainly know how to keep
a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost
moved to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Excellent job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how
    you presented it. Too cool!
