Baked Ziti

This recipe is like an easy version of lasagna. It is quick and delicious! It is a great
dish for a dinner party, family dinner, pot luck, or even to make for someone that is sick, they can just through it in the oven and bake it themselves. No matter why you make it, it will be a guaranteed hit!

I chose to show you the quickest method for this recipe using jarred spaghetti sauce. You can instead of jarred spaghetti sauce use:

  • 3 cans of low sodium Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp of Basil
  • 1 Tbsp of Oregano
  • 2 Tbsp of Garlic
This dish is also great for a vegetarian dish, just omit the Ground Turkey.

1 12oz Box of Whole Wheat
Ziti Pasta
1 Jar of Spaghetti sauce (Whatever kind you like)

1/4 Cup of Water

1lb of Ground Turkey Breast

1 16oz Bag of Mozzarella Cheese

1 24oz Container of Cottage Cheese or Ricotta Cheese

2 Eggs

1/2 Cup of Parmesan Cheese

1 tsp of Basil

1 tsp of Chopped Garlic or Garlic Powder

8oz of Sliced Mushrooms (Optional)

1 tsp of Red Pepper Flakes (Optional for spice)

  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • In a large pot boil Ziti according to directions on box, DRAIN
  • In a skillet cook your Turkey breast and mushrooms, if using them, DRAIN
  • In a large bowl combine Cottage Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Basil, Garlic, Eggs, and 8oz of Mozzarella, mix well
  • Pour Spaghetti Sauce into Noodles, rinse jar out with 1/4 Cup of water, add to the noodles
  • Add meat and cottage cheese mixture into the noodles, mix well
  • Once all ingredients are mixed together, pour into Casserole Dish
  • Top with remaining 8oz of Mozzarella cheese
  • Bake for 30 minutes until cheese starts to brown
